Sunday and Monday pre-event Activities : We checked into the Fort William Henry Resort Hotel early on Sunday afternoon. We parked our boat and trailer on the lawn, got our belongings moved to our room and then got back into our car and drove around the area for several hours to see the sights, find restaurants and the resort at which we had stayed fifty years earlier on our honeymoon. The Blue Water Manor has changed very little in fifty years, although we are told it has been through a number of owners in that time span! We recognized it immediately. There was also a craft show going on just below the Wm. Henry down by the town boat docks which would be the site of the big International Boat Show on Friday and Saturday. On Monday, the Adirondack Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society had a cruise on the lake planned. You could take your own boat or ride in one owned by local members. We decided that the latter would be more fun. Since our "first love" is Lyman boats, we chose the only Lyman in the tour, a 1965 21 ft. runabout owned by Tom and Mary Carmel. It proved to be a great choice as they were a marvelous couple and good tour guides to boot. It was on this tour that I got all the beautiful pictures of the lakeshore, homes, resorts, boathouses and the other boats on the tour. Thanks so much, Tom and Mary, for your great hospitality.
